Mommy Makeover
Mommy Makeover Explained
Many women choose from the following:
- Tummy Tuck: Improves the abdominal area by removing excess skin and repairing stretched muscles for a flatter tummy.
- Breast Augmentation: Adds volume with implants to restore pre-baby breast size or achieve a fuller look.
- Liposuction: Targets stubborn fat in areas resistant to diet and exercise, such as the neck, thighs, and love handles.
- Breast Lift: Rejuvenates and lifts breasts, restoring a firm, youthful shape.
- Breast Augmentation Revision: Allows changes to breast size or corrects unwanted post-pregnancy changes.
- Labiaplasty: Reshapes and reduces enlarged labia for increased confidence and comfort.
- Fat Grafting: Transfers excess fat to areas needing enhancement, commonly used for breasts and buttocks.

Mommy Makeover FAQs
The “classic” version of a Mommy Makeover consists of a breast enhancement procedure and a tummy tuck, often with liposuction to sculpt the waistline and reduce stubborn pockets of abdominal fat.
There are two major reasons why combining procedures is better in the long run: cost and recovery time. By combining procedures, there are certain costs incurred for each procedure that you will only pay once (e.g., use of a surgical facility, anesthesia fees). While it can be challenging to take time out for surgery and recovery, combining procedures means you are also consolidating your recovery periods instead of having a separate recovery period for each procedure.
Pregnancy itself is a major stressor on the body, and at a minimum, we generally recommend that moms hold off at least 6 months to give their bodies time to heal and get back to normal. However, if you decide to breastfeed, you will need to wait at least 3 months after you’ve weaned your baby. Please also keep in mind that a Mommy Makeover will inhibit your ability to engage in physical activity for a few weeks — including lifting your children. For this reason, some women decide to delay the procedure until their babies are a bit older.
Having a Mommy Makeover will not change your ability to have more children or carry them to term safely. However, just as pregnancy has caused the changes you are now seeking to correct, a subsequent pregnancy after surgery will likely produce very similar unwanted changes. We strongly recommend that patients wait to have a Mommy Makeover until they are sure that they do not want to have any more children.
You do not have to be a mother to get a Mommy Makeover. The surgery got its name because the combination of procedures addresses many of the most common post-pregnancy cosmetic concerns; however, it’s also beneficial for anyone looking to reclaim their body after significant weight loss or other major changes.

Planning for Recovery after a Mommy Makeover
The timeline for your final results will vary somewhat based on the procedures in your Mommy Makeover. In general, however, you can expect your results will continue to emerge and improve over the first 3 to 6 months after surgery. The results of a Mommy Makeover should last at least 10 years or more. You can preserve these results by maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle.
